Manipulative Math

I am continually amazed at how stupid the White House thinks US citizens are!!! They honestly think that we will believe anything they say no matter how ridiculous. In a recent White House post we are notified that our BBQ costs will be 16 cents less than last year. HURRAY, 16 cents. But for what. Turns out the 16 cents savings is for the average BBQ of 10 people. That’s a 1.6 cent savings for each person. WOW, 1.6 cents per person is worthy of a White House tweet? The tweet mentions, hot dogs, relish and ketchup but if you look at what was included in the average BBQ, no hotdogs, relish or ketchup are to be found. No chicken either. Ground beef and pork chops are included. In addition the decrease is calculated based on last year’s prices. Last year at this time we were in the middle of a pandemic with supply issues and price increases for certain foods. Turns out the cost for the BBQ items used has actually gone up 8% from 2019. I hope nobody has to drive to the BBQ. The average cost of regular gas has gone up almost $1.00 per gallon since we celebrated our last Fourth of July in 2020 and that is about 50% (approximately $2.00 to approximately $3.00). No manipulated numbers there. Trillions or dollars spent by the Administration, much of it going to foreign countries and we are supposed to be happy about our 1.6 cent savings, but only if we decide to have pork chops and ground beef, no chicken, no hotdogs, no buns, no ketchup, no mustard, no relish allowed. All I can say is HOTDOG!
